Alas California White 2023

This lightly macerated white wine is made in the spirit of juxtaposition.

When Tahnee Shields first made this wine, the Pinot Gris from Clarksburg was supposed to be a single varietal cuvée. After fermentation the saltiness of the grape was a bit out of balance, leading her to blend a touch of Chardonnay from Zabala Vineyard in Arroyo Seco. This particular Chardonnay has a touch of Muscat DNA in it, and it shows prettily in the nose. The contrast of briney, linear Pinot Gris with the round, fruity Chardonnay makes this wine intriguing and hard to pin down.

60% Pinot Gris, 40% Chardonnay 

12% ABV
