Granja Nómada Espadín Mezcal

Granja Nómada Espadín Mezcal is produced by mezcalero Hugo Quinto in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca. Each batch begins with 10 to 15 tons of mature, 8-year-old Agave angustifolia hand-selected from three nearby farms. The piñas are cooked for six days in an earthen pit oven fired with locally chopped oak, crushed by tahona, and fermented in open-air wooden vats for up to 15 days. The mezcal is then double distilled in copper stills, with only the hearts of the first run carried into the second, and bottled at a local facility about ten minutes from the palenque. The aroma is smoky with bright citrus, and the palate offers light florals that blend with natural agave sweetness and gentle citrus. It is bottled at 42% ABV.

This mezcal is best enjoyed neat in a small glass or copita, ideally with orange slices on the side. Its balanced smoke and citrus also shine in a Mezcal Margarita, Paloma, or a smoky twist on the Negroni.
