Iwai Tradition Sherry Cask Finish Japanese Whisky

A limited release from Mars Shinshu Distillery in Nagano, Japan, this blended whisky takes the malt-driven Iwai Tradition and finishes it for just over 11 months in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, prized for their concentrated sugars and robust, oxidized fruit notes. Distilled from 70% malted barley and 30% corn, it’s a non-age-statement blend aged in ex-bourbon, sherry, and wine casks before the finish. Expect aromas of brown sugar, cacao, and black cherry, with a fruity, confectionary palate of dried apricot, lemon poppyseed cake, orange peel, and nutmeg. Only 540 bottles were released in the US.

Sip it neat to follow the sherry sweetness, or add a drop of water to open up the fruit.
