The best-known brands of orange liqueurs operate orange plantations in Haiti. The bright, bitter, and spicy species, Citrus aurantium, is believed to have been brought to the island in 1492 and citrus has thrived there ever since – a silver lining in the dark cloud Columbus brought to Hispaniola.
