Zoranj Anme Orange Liqueur
The best-known brands of orange liqueurs operate orange plantations in Haiti. The bright, bitter, and spicy species, Citrus aurantium, is believed to have been brought to the island in 1492 and citrus has thrived there ever since – a silver lining in the dark cloud Columbus brought to Hispaniola.
Local rum forms the base of Zoranj Anmè, sweetened by cane juice reduced over fires fueled by the spent cane after it is pressed. The liqueur is infused with the peels of bitter, curaçao, and sour oranges, imparting unparalleled brightness with natural spice and bitterness. 35% ABV
